Default '05 Honda rancher Carb issues!

Took the atv on a good 2 hour ride the other day, and when I got back I noticed it was dripping gas out of the line that comes off of the bottom of the carb it never stopped until I turned the gas off. I have 0 experience with carbs, but am supposed to be going on a trip this weekend with the atv and I highly doubt that any shop could get to it that quick. Does anyone know where to start as far as looking at what could have happened?

This is a common problem. It is either dirt from the fuel line has got stuck in the viton tip of the float needle or a tiny spring that is in the float needle has gone. The quick fix is, ensure you haven’t got fuel in the sump or filter box, then start the engine with the tap off, leave running until it stalls then turn the tap on and hope the rush of fuel cleans the needle. It will soon start dribbling again if it hasn’t. The proper procedure is to remove the carb, take the float bowl off, remove the float hinge pin, and the float and needle will come off, mind you don’t loose it. Check and clean the needle, check the tiny plunger inside it bobs in and out or the spring has gone. Blow out the carb and fuel line then re-assemble.

You are correct, the float needle was clogged! Had trash in it. We tore down the carb, put it back together and now the atv runs as good as new.
