Default 2013 Polaris Outlaw 50 Choke issue

My grandsons quad will not go to high idle with the choke on, it will start with the choke on and idle but takes 10 min before he can take off or it falls on it's face. I move the choke off when cold and it dies. After the 10 min of idling he can ride it just fine, any suggestions?

Would really like to hear it with a high idle when the choke is on.

Thanks

Possible that the choke is not engaging all the way. You can loosen the clamp hlding the cable at the carb and move the cable up slightly and see if it helps warm up quicker. Plus could be the fuel screw needs adjusting(#22). Check how many turns to a lightly seated position it is,then turn out 1/2 turn. If doesn't help, turn back to original position, then turn the adjuster in a half turn. Plus could be a little trash in the carb bowl or pilot/main jet(#7-8) may have a little blockage. I'd check the choke cable adjustment and the air screw first to see if it helps on cold starts.Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Thanks, I went through the carb and it was pretty much clean. I did the fuel air mixture screw like you mentioned, it idles up real high but when it's warm and the choke is off I still had the high idle so I had to place the air fuel mixture screw back. Really confuses me on this model.

Manual I have shows 2 1/2 turns out on the air screw. Start from there, adjust the idle screw to where you have a good steady idle, then fine tune the air screw. If it doesn't help you may still have carb problems. Carb section of the manual can help you a lot on tracing down if it's the problem. Can't find your model, but the 2011 Predator 50 should be the same. 2011 Polaris Predator 50 Service Manual PDF Download

Update - after not finding any info on any upgrades I decided to purchase a PZ19 carb off eBay for 23$ shipped, best upgrade ever!! The choke now works and the thing has more power than it did when new. I did notice the intake diameter is much larger. Spark plug looks great!!

Glad you're up and running,BUT don't chunk the oem Mikuni carb as it's about a $260 carb if purchased new. Possibly all it needs is a good cleaning and carb kit.http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARB-REBUILD-KIT-POLARIS-OUTLAW-50-08-09-10-11-12-13-REPAIR-CARBURETOR-GASKET-/271325881759?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f2c48659f&vxp=mtr Good to keep on hand in case the Chinese brand carb doesn't hold up for you.

I just adjusted the air/fuel screw as I remember. It bolted right up.
