2005 Suzuki Eiger auto. 500 miles. Last 2 outings it has happened each time. After stopping real fast then hitting the gas the clutch slips and makes a bark sound as the belt slips, then catches. I think the clutch just didn't reset to the idle position? Doesn't seam like a big deal right now, should I go through the bother of pulling it apart?

 

I have the same issue with my 2012 King Quad 750. I have asked the mechanics at the dealership I work for and they say it is a Suzuki thing. I have around 1500 miles on mine. One of my co-workers has a 2005 King Quad 700 and he put a EPI clutch kit in his machine and it still makes that noise.

 

I service Suzukis for a living, and when they start grabbing on take off, we fit a new belt, this seems to cure it, but it is extremely rare that we get this problem and I have never had one that made noises. With so few miles in 10 years your belt may have "set" to an odd shape while laid up.

 

I don't think it's so much a Suzuki thing as a CVT thing.

The driven clutch doesn't get a chance to return to "idle" and the belt gets pinched...yet the drive clutch opens up like normal. So when you re-aply throttle you have a loose belt until the driven rotates slightly...then it goes tight again with a jerk and usually a squawk.

I had a 2000 Kodiak that would do this as well.

Next time you stop quickly, just throw it in neutral and rev it for a second to reset it.
