2005 Sportsman 90 Choke Adjustment
#1
A few issues with my son's 2005 Sportsman 90:
1. ATV has manual choke and I notice there is very little range/movement when moving lever from no choke to full choke positions. I am concluding it is not working (choking effectively). When I move the lever to choke, I should hear the idle increase when the atv is running - I hear no change. The problem is the atv will not start when cold, and to get the atv started, I put my hand over air intake (essentially choking) to eventually get it started. So how do I adjust the setting of the choke? Note, once started and warmed up, she fires right up every time.
2. Putting the battery back in the atv this weekend, I (brain dead) inadvertently landed them on the opposite terminals, only realizing what I'd done after trying to start it. Blew the inline fuse on the positive lead (and replaced it). ATV starts and runs, but no reverse or neutral lights... Did I fry the bulbs or something worse? Basic question: What did I mess up in electrical space with this bonehead move?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Possible the brass choke plunger could be frozen in the carb body or the cable needs to be adjusted. Think the adjuster is either on the carb body or has an inline adjuster. Can't remember which. Probably just popped the bulbs before the inline fuse blew. Bulbs seem to catch any spike or problem first. If it runs ok now, hopefully that's all that happened.

Thanks Old Polaris Tech.
Choke adjustment: I think it is within the choke cable, but wanted to get confirmation. My thought is to get it running, and then start adjustment - again, I would expect to hear the rpms come up to tell me when to stop adjusting.
Reversed Polarity: Yes, atv starts and runs fine. Although, I'm not convinced I'm charging the battery while running, as now the battery (which was new late last fall, and pulled and stored for winter) is weak even after a long ride. Had same issue with my boat motor battery, and turned out to be the voltage regulator/rectifier. Suspecting I might have fried the voltage regulator when I reversed the leads??

Adjust the choke lever to where you have a little slack so it can fully seat back down. Yes if it's not charging after hooking the cables up backwards, the I'd suspect the regulator also. My son did the same thing on his first boat years ago. He got in a hurry, hooked up the battery backwards and tuned the key on! I had to replace a regulator on that one to that he fried.Lucky he didn't do more damage
