Does anyone know if a 300 explorer will float . There are some
deep slews in my hunting club when the river rises. I was wondering if I could walk along side and float it across. The
water depth is over the racks. Has anyone tried this?

Yes i do it all the time with mine. I cross through holes about the same depth u described and if u get off in about 2 to 3 feet of water then get off and float it it will work. If u try at like 1 foot of water i could never seem to get it to float for some reason

My 300 xplorer tries to float with me on it when it gets to the front bumper in water. I weigh about 180 pounds and that is with stock tires. The front end is a little heavy so I guess the call is yours. At that depth it filled the belt housing full of water but the air intake was fine. Good luck.

It will, but you have to take the motor out first.

I would try it without large volume tires (25" or 26") with a good amount a air. I have seen some other machine do it, ranging from a Suzuki 160 to Sportsman 500, but all had big tires.

It's risky!

I should float, I had my sportsman floating many times before. I was going upstream and all of a sudden I hit a deep hole the ATV sank but I jumped off before the engine cutoff. I floated right up to the top and I kept the motor running so it would not suck up water. I also went through and big waterhole/mudhole and got stuck and the motor did cut off. When I got off to hook up the winch it floated up to the top. When it floats it is still deep under water but it floats. I know a 300ex won't float because I sank my old one after I stripped the sprocket down by a lake. I had to push it around the lake for 5 miles or I could hook it to a jetski and try to pull it 2 minutes across the lake. It was getting dark plus there was a very big hill I had to push it up so I tried to tie it to the back of the jetski. OPPS it sank real quick. Then I had to drag it out of the lake and push it up the big hill, that was the worst push I ever had. So to sum things up maybe it will float, tie it to another atv before you try it for the first time just in case you got to yank it out. test :

Thanks for all the advise. I have gone thru some deep water
just below the racks and it seemed to float on me for a few
feet . I'll let you know what happes when the river rises.
