E-ton Yukon CXL 150cc trans issues (Help)
#1
Hi, I have an Eton Yukon CXL 150 and have been experiencing transmission issues. I bought the quad about 6 months ago and got it running and then ran into issues with the trans. When you shift into forward (The transmission is a forward neutral and reverse with an auto clutch) you just hear a clicking/ popping noise, now you can avoid this if you push on the shifter and keep it fully engaged but it's not very practical. Fortunately, I found a website that sells a bunch of Eton parts and I bought the gear shift cluster and I'm going to replace it when it comes in. If anyone else has an issue like this let me know, I've done a lot of research and may be able to help you. And'll also keep you informed if the part fixes my issue.

Don't know the model at all but with gears that pop out, it can be worn engagement dogs, or it can be faulty selector parts, usually both, as worn dogs put strain on the engagement mechanism and bent selector forks etc, are often found as well, so check all those selector bits for straightness and wear when you fit the new gears.

I’m having the same issues with the transmission on a Yukon I bought recently. It was running great and the chain popped off then it would go in reverse fine but made the popping and grinding noise when trying to go forward. What did you discover the issue to be and where did you find the parts? Was it a hard fix? Thanks.

If changing the cluster fixed it, most likely cause is the edges of the dog teeth rounded off. Doesn't take much, makes them to try to slide out of mesh when torque is applied, often bends/wears selector forks slightly too, which makes things worse. Quad gearboxes are a fairly simple type but you did well to fix it at 16, courage of youth, some mechanics don't dare touch a gearbox, and send them to specialists for repair.

Hey, so I ended up popping off the transmission cover and looking at all the gears. Nothing particularly stood out for me, there were not any broken chunks or broken teeth, but there was a bit of play in the gear shifter cluster assembly so I ended up taking the risk of spending $130 on a new one, and luckily that was the issue. I used a website called get2itparts.com they have all the gears and everything for these quads and it's cheaper than anything you will find on eBay. Overall fixing the transmission was not very hard, it was the first transmission I ever messed with so if you are worried about it, it's not that bad. I'm only 16 but I would consider myself a little mechanically inclined so take that into account. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty stressful because I didn't want to break it even more and waste money on it, but if you take your time and reach out to people that somewhat know about these quads it's not awful. If you need a more detailed description let me know I still have the old parts and I can look at what was wrong with them. And I have pictures, aswell as links, receipts, and contact info.
Hello,
I have a 2009 E-Ton Yukon ll 150cc. It is having the same problem. Not staying in forward. Did you pull the transmission and engine together? I thinking about fixing it because it is actually in pretty good condition except for the transmission. I would appreciate any advice you might have also.
Thanks,
Brad B.

Hey Brad, so I didn't pull the motor out of the frame, I just took out the plastic foot well and disassembled the gearbox with the motor in the frame. In this YouTube video, the guy does pretty much the same thing I did from what I can remember
. Let me know if you have any other question, id be happy to help.
