I developed a half inch cut in the sidewall on one of my front tires. Is there a remedy for this or is it dumpster time for the tire. It has 3/4 tread yet.

You can try to put a couple of tire plugs side by side in the hole that might work. Hope this helps

Take it to a tire shop, have it patched from the inside. Tube it for good measure. $10-$15.

I had the same thing happen and I put in 3 plugs and it has held for the past 2 months of riding.

I had to put in two plugs in next to each other on the sidewall and it's still holding after a year.

DO NOT plug the tire. You will only be asking for it to let you down.

The only way to take care of this 1/2 cut is like BARKBITERDS said, Patch it from the inside. and then put a proper size tube in it.

This should take care of the problem.

No tire manufacure recommends plugs, Much Less Double or triple, It may work for a short time but it will fail.

Hey Bubba we aint talking about a high speed tire here just an ATV tire. And a used one at that by the time you break it down and buy a tube you could almost get a new tire so plug away at the old ones ride the heck out of it and keep plenty of plugs and air in your truck.Oh by the way I have been doing this for many years and I get by real good.

Low pressure tires like ATV/tractor tries can work fine with sidewall plugs, and if your plugs fail well that just because you're not using the right thing. The tarred rope plugs is the best I've found for small holes, they just don't leak or come out. For a half inch gouge I'm not sure what I'd use, probably inner patch and tube, but then a tubes very vulnerable to minor thorn holes where tubeless tires aren't.

(BTW Bubbascrambler, ever consider that tire manufactures want to sell more tires?) I've run radial high pressure plugged tires as far as 200,000 miles after the repair( Michelen X series HD tires), and low speed/pressure rope plugged for a while now(perhaps 1700 atv miles.)
