cutting the front fenders
#4
cutting the front fenders is just for looks. by cutting your front fenders you give your quad a personal look. not only that but i think full fenders on any hi-performance quad looks stupid. i have full fenders on my '86 250R just because i'm trying to keep it as stock as possible. my tricked '87, however, has cut fenders front and rear.

In all actuality the reason initially for cut fenders was for racing. It is so that when racing close and tight you can look down and actually see your front tires. The fender blocks the view and when racing you need to know exactly where the corners of bike are. Just thought I would let you know. Of course now it is a cosmetic thing too. Dave

I have a 86 TRX250r it has full fenders because I want it to look as stock as possible i heard that the reason they cut fenders is because on the big bore bikes like the 350R kits and and big bore banshee's it helps keep the front end on the ground the air catches under the femder and lifts the front tires into the air. I haven't noticed this because I don't have a big bore kit.

right on and in my opinion they also block your view when jumping or riding a wheelie i think it's possible that front fenders also take weight off the front tires at high speeds, making for a more vague steering response
just my guess
