HELP!! Hub nut removal
#1
I'm trying to change my rear sprocket to a 42 and in order to get the thing off I need to pull the hub. The turd of it is that the nut won't come off. Is there a trick? I'm crankin' on it with a big a$$ crescent wrench and it does'nt want to budge. HELP!!

I got mine off like this:
Somebody sit on the quad in gear and apply the rear brake. use a socket on a breaker bar with a pipe for leverage and brake it loose. Being in gear combined with the brake will hold it well enough. Do the same to retorque, and torque it proper 170-180ft.lbs. Don't forget to regrease the spline, and replace the cotter.

Exactly...what I used for the pipe was the handle from my floor jack. A 32mm socket is also the size I used. Same size as the axel nut on a VW bug

DO NOT!!! RE-Torque IT TO 170 Ft. Lbs.!! That is way to tight! It doesn't need to be that tight just re-torque it to around 120 Ft. Lbs. Bombardier was out of there minds when they did that! That is about how much torque you would use on a Dana 80 axle!!

I don't know how much different a baja is from a reg ds but the hub nut on mine is a 36mm. Had to go to Home Depot for that bad boy. I borrowed a friends electric impact wrench and away it went.
