The effects of not using a clutch are long term. I would try to use the clutch as often as possible. I see people mostly not using a clutch when they are racing, because they need a full grip to hold on. I recently replaced the bottom end of my quad and needed new 1st -4th gears and am not looking forward to doing it again.
