2 99 ac 500s one with 156 miles and the other with 120,5 lbs. of air in all tires and weights about the same.the only diff. was the air filter, side by side race i beat him by about 2 bike lenghts twice.theres also a road we have to run to get to a trail its about 1.5 miles uphill at the top i was 7-10 bike lenghts ahead.it seems like mine reved faster and i was shifting sooner.the jet kits on order so ill see what that does.

i had intended to swap filters and run them but it was to dam cold the temp was in the low 30s but we had 30 mph wind gusts.saturday is the only day both of us can get out so next sat. we will try it again.the only difference i noticed was it was a little more responsive and it seemed to rev quicker.as far as top end it didnt gain anything.

Frank, let us know any jetting changes or anything other than just putting it on that you did. I have been waiting on somebody to be a "test rat" (nothing implied here) for the K&N before I bought one. It looks like I will be adding this in the next month or so now. You can never have too much power. What kind of top speed do you get out of yours anyway?

well during the week we both did some mods so changing the filter was pointless.he cut out the air filter lid and i removed the carb and lowered the c-clip on the needle valve.now they run side by side thru 4 gears and in 5th ill creep away from him,and uphill mine is definitly stronger.and he only cut the inside of the lid so he kept the snorkle.

frank, I had that same filter and jet kit on order through Tucker Rocky for about 4 months, where did you find the filter? Also, it is my understanding that these constant velocity carbs are really sensitive to changes, did you find and adverse affects to the overall reliability and such, I mean like idling a long time and such did it try to load up with fuel because of moving the clip?
