AC 650 v-twin problems
#12
Hey, guys, some of us have young kids and have to work for a living! Those are 200 hard miles, by the way.
I plan on having this thing for many years, so we'll see how she'll hold up. I've had great luck with my 375, so I'm not fretting that the 650 will start falling apart.
I'm hoping to get it down to Coal Creek again this summer and maybe Hatfield/McCoy as well. We'll see. For now, the Badlands will have to do.

yah i have about 656 miles i believe on it, and the radiator prob. occurred after about 2 miles, then the belt problem occurred after about 603 miles, and then the rear axle broke after about 656 miles. and when it quit on me about 16 miles from my house, *in the winter time at that* it was after about 300 miles.

I also had limp mode problem X2.
I have burned belt
and now the 4X4 engagment motor is gone.
also my 650 was delivered with bad gas with some kind of acid so the 2 carburator were replaced.
I am starting to be sorry I sold my Polaris 700

sounds like the problems went from the 500 to the 650.
anybody want to buy a 2003 500 manual everything has bin rebuilt.
front diff rebuild, upper controll arm bushings, three balljoints, one lower controll arm, 4 rear axels and an airbox.
but its like new now.
im selling my cat and buying a honda.
i cant handel having it brake on me almost every time i go out.
if i road this thing like i ride my dirt bike the list of broken parts would be as long as my arm.
if it dident brake all the time this would be the baddest quad out there but its not.
so now its time to try a honda.

I'm noticing a pattern here. The Cat 650 is the only Cat utility ATV that doesn't use a Suzuki engine. It's also the only Cat ATV that I see a lot of people have trouble with. Hmmm..... Maybe AC needs to go back to the drawing board with it's high-end quads and stick with the strategy that is working so well for the rest of their line-up.

i sold a 03 rincon with 400 kilos on it because i was disappointed with it and bought a ac 650
and this thing crawls over and threw everything nothing to climb over a 18 " log
got it stuck in a muskeg above the head lites and winched it a couple of feet and it climbed right out and crossed the other swamps no problem. loads of power and i am more satisfied with this one.

The Polaris is much more comfortable, the power is about the same, the 650 is faster a bit both are not stable on sharp uphills and uphills boulders. The cat is veru good on downhills while the 700 is sleeping. gas milage the 700 is better but the 650 has bigger gas tank. The reason I change to AC is brcause I thought they have much less...........PROBLEMS, what I see is that Polaris has small problems and the AC 650 has BIG MAJOR problem.
