Agree, they all will break down, any mechanical device will eventually fail. But Honda's (until lately "Rubicon") simply haven't offered 2/4wd-Diffy Lock etc. Less options, less problems. You're right, what you like is what suits you. I just know alot of friends, work associates, and observations on trails etc. People seem to be working on Polaris more often then other brands. I guess they must enjoy that, like the Harley guys, they enjoy wrenching and playing with it just as much as riding it. I enjoy doing routine maint and customizing and tinkering, but as far as replacing belts, gears, chains, engines....I'd rather be riding..... Just my observations/opinion. Yes they all have had problems.

Default AC 650 v-twin problems

I HATE TO BRING THIS THREAD BACK UP.....

BUT WAS LOOKING TO GET INTO A '04 AC 650 V-TWIN.....SO I DID A SEARCH.

first of all ...all atv's are trouble..........only when your on a message board doing a search.
why?? CUZ your getting views of opinions from across the USA.

check out the other message boards on certain makes and models.....your gonna find out everyone has trouble.

i owned a '00 polaris 325 magnum and sold it to a friend.....still no probs
i now own a '02 polaris 400 sportsman...again no probs and i have over 3000 miles on mine and hard miles. never went through any belts or ANYTHING AT ALL!!!
I PLOW SNOW. I USE A SPRING TOOTH FOR MY FOOD PLOTS FOR DEER .I WAY APROX 300 LBS SO THATS A HEAVY LOAD EVERYTIME I HOP ON IT.
I TRAIL RIDE ALL THE TIME.

WHEN I WAS LOOKING TO BUY A '97 FORD F-150 I DID A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET ALSO.

FOUND ALL KINDS OF PROBS......BUT I BOUGHT IT ANYWAY CUZ I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED FORD.
I BOUGHT IT USED WITH OVER 100,000 MILES AND STILL NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AND I'VE HAD IT TWO YEARS NOW. OVER 120,000 MILES NOW.
AS FAR AS THE POLARIS GUY ON THE AC MEASSAGE BOARD.....WHAT DOES IT MATTER.
I AM NOT STICKING UP FOR POLARIS CUZ I OWN ONE. I WOULD LIKE TO SWITH BRANDS FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

YOU GOTTA REMEMBER THAT HUMANBEINGS THAT PUT THESE MACHINES TOGETHER.......WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES AND THAT IS WHY SOMEONE ENDS UP WITH A LEMON.
I WOULD LIKE TO GAT AN AC 650 REGAURDLESS OF WHAT I'VE JUST READ CUZ IT'S ALL HOW THE DICE ROLLS. THEY ARE ALL NOT THAT WAY.
GOTTA GO WIFE WANTS PUTER NOW.

I just got an AC 650 but at times I was wondering after reading all those potencial problems that people posted on the forum. But then again it also depends on what you do with your bike. I for one use it for all kinds of work and for play I go to places off the beaten track where many AC features shine. I can say nothing bad about my Hondas or even the Warrior but since I own my first Cat I let my kids ride the other stuff. I've got 3200 trouble free miles (I mean nothing ever broke or let me down) on that 03 400 and I hope the new bike will nearly as good but would not complain if things brake from time to time because this Kawi engine will put more stress on things.

if you think you are having problems with your arctic cat wait till you go to a polaris they are a 1 year machine after that they are done and the limp mode problem for me which dynatek cdi i have been told will take care of that and i burnt the belt my own fault for not using low range when i should have and i had to tighten up a clamp for the radiator but 750 hardcore miles and she is a strong sexy beast

Their is a fix for the limp mode, contact your dealer.
As for the belt slip issue, if you put big tires on your quad you will need to put new springs in your primary and secondary. We have been using the Dalton industries clutch kit and it works perfect, and only costs about $50.00 (it is a 2 spring kit, and it also is great for stock tires). As your belt strechs from new you will have to adjust the deflection (belt tension) for optimum performance.
The quad will do 50 mph in low, use low for all conditions exept road and fast trail use and you will greatly extend belt life.

We have done many different levels of mods for much power and have had zero problem on the 650, and we have sold many.

As for the brakes, we did have one quad with premature brake pad wear, but attributed it to the tech who set up the quad did not burnish the brakes on initial set up, for maximum brake life and performance burnish the brakes, it makes a big difference.

A dealer who cares.

hey weez

didn't you read my thread!!

i hate it when people like yourself gotta say things the you did.

i have had two polaris's and have had no probs at all

the i have now is only two years old with over 3000 miles on it. never replaced a belt.

it don't even pay to say anything i guess.

all atv's in my opinion have there problems. some more than some and some models more than others.

ploaris around here are pretty famous.

every machine has there PROS AND CONS

some people just have bad luck also.
remember that it is humans that put thses things together......we all make mistakes
