Default stock jet, 05 500

Bought a high altitude jet for my 05 500 based on advice from a guy running an 04.
I made the wrong assumption that they would be the same,
but found out that the 05 has a 138 and a 04 has a 148 stock.
Just wondering what is up with that?

Pitkin 1; Logic tells me that a different(bigger) engine has a different carb(probaly bigger also) which means different jets( not necessarily bigger, suely different). It's like saying" my Ford truck has a 460 engine so the plugs in it will work in a Chevy 350, cause it's an engine too.

I talking about a 2004 500 vs a 2005 500, same motor.

Pitkin; Yeah, same motor, but different carb. There is a new carb for 2005. So you get different jets.

The stock jet for the 03 500 in Central States was a 148. The 138 size is for mountain machines over 9000 feet in altitude. I rode Taylor Park at 9300 feet this year with a 140 jet and it ran fine. Your dealer will let you know the correct size for a particular altitude.

That is what I thought till I took my stock jet out of my 2005, it was a 138.
I ran a 127.5 for that same area as per the Gunnison AC dealer and it ran fine.

Thanks for the info Bear4570, that is what I suspected but hadn't heard anything about it.
