Default What manufacturer has the best CVT???

Polaris has a history big on the CVT design. As time has gone by.......utility machines have followed the Polaris lead and gone with the CVT.

Who now has the best???

never ridden a yamaha cvt. but i can say that ac is way better than that kawa, my 400 with the duramtic can take alot more in high gear than the kawa cvt on my 650. I can smell the belt burning on some hillclimbs when im in hi.

Between the Polaris and the Arctic Cat - Well, I've smoked two belts on the Polaris and Zero with the AC with about the same miles on each. The AC is a lower geared tranny and I appreciate the low end touque as my riding is technical and not speed orientated. They both get driven about the same and under the same conditions so its a pretty fair comparison. High speed for me is about 20mph. An average days ride will clock about 30 miles in 8 hours if its a good trail. And good = holy crappola batman - were not going through there are we???

I say yamaha first, with ac second. I think yamaha has done some better fine tuning on theirs.

Hondamatic? Sorry. That's the only transmission I've seen problems with on the rides I've attended. The biggest thing is that they can't fix it. You have to replace the whole thing, which ain't cheap. Ok, I admit, I've only seen one with a problem, but it is the only time I've seen any transmission problem with an auto. Just my experience, nothing scientific.
