ya'll, just found out today CAT is going to replace my frame with new one. i am pleased with this fact because i am over 2 yrs out of warrenty. i am trying to find out if my dealer can get me a good trade in deal instead. i'm just not sure how good it will after i get it back with new frame ( bolts not tight, etc...) hoping to trade for 06 v2 so i can swap clutch springs and cdi box.

Have your dealer been told how many hours AC is giving him to replace everything? They paid my dealer for 11 hours, job took over 20 to do it correctly (torquing everything correctly, using locktite, taking time to run wires correctly, etc... ). I paid the difference out of my own pocket to make the it was done right and not rushed.

The my dealer told me standard arrangement on warranty work is AC supplies the parts at N/C and the dealer splits the labor with AC. Some dealer you have there. I call that a rip.

I also have a broken frame on my 650. Brought it to my dealer the other day and AC told them they will give a new frame, but will not pay for labor. I was told either pay for the labor or do it myself. They said 10 hours labor. I have called AC to discuss this every day for the last 7 days and left a message with no return calls. I am hoping AC will pay for the labor since they obviously have some kind a problem with the 650 frames. It would be nice just to get a call back. Any other suggestions on dealing with this problem would appreciated.

Your dealer told you that AC told him this? Or did AC tell you? Is the dealer telling you that the job will take 10 hours to complete and you are paying the labor? If so, find a new dealer as this one is trying to rip you off.
My dealer and AC did not return calls for 2 weeks about my broken frame. A call from my lawyer made things happen.
Go on the Consumer Product Safety Council website www.cpsc.gov and report your broken frame. I cannot believe that there's no recall on these yet.

my dealer said 10 hours and AC won't pay. I am not paying and that is why I have been trying to call AC with no success. I don't think I should have to pay when it was clearly manufacturer defect. I agree, there should be a recall. My dealer also said they never saw an AC frame brake. I guess my last resort will be to involve an attorney. I will check out the website and report my frame. Thanks for info. I guess I will just keep watching the quads and bikes go by my house to the trails while AC drags their feet.
