I'm glad for you finally an answered question. It's a 2001 right? Wonder why the cam is wearing? It's overhead cam or does it have lifters and pushrod's? How many miles on the thing? Did all the valves needed to be adjusted or just intake or exhaust.? If just exhaust maybe they are burning. Have you modified your exhaust? Oh you did say it popped through the carb, meaning intake stayed open while combusting, wrong time, too long or advanced spark. You don't want to replace a cam if it's going to happen again. What could be the root cause?
