Default 650 V2 dead as a post

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some troubleshooting suggestions for my 650. I had some problems with cold starting and thought it was just an issue of the battery being a bit weak. Once I got my machine started, I went out plowing snow. After running for about 20 minutes, the quad died. No power anywhere. My machine won't even pullstart. I pushed it back to my garage (with the plow down) and checked it over. My battery is showing 12.7 volts, and all of my fuses in my fuse block are good. Are there any other hiddens fuses to check? Any thoughts. I'd appreciate the feedback. I can't even load my quad on my truck without going out to borrow a come-along to pull it up into my truck. Any thoughts on CDI failures or a coil issue?

Check for a main fuse at the starter solinoid. Should be a 30 amp fuse, will have a cover over it that pulls off. This is the main feed for bike.

Do I need to pull the solenoid to get to the fuse? There is no fuse in line running from the battery to the solenoid.

Isn't your winch solenoid connected to your battery directly? It should be. Connect a battery charger to your battery and try turning it on, if the lights come on your battery is bad. Most 12 volt batteries actually run around 13.5 - 13.8 when properly charged

I'm wondering if there are multiple problems now. With the charger on the battery, the winch still doesn't work. I've got it in for service this morning. I will post the results for everyone when they find the problem.

The answer. I guess there was a short in the ignition system wiring harness. The harness melted in several spots. I guess Artic Cat has seen the problem before and is addressing it. Just an FYI for the freak chance your 650 goes dead and won't pull start.

Just curious. What year is your 650? I just bought a new 2005. Thanks.

I just check and don't see a recall on this problem, but I do remember someone mentioning there was a quality control problem with something puncturing the harness and causing a short. But don't remember where.
