Engine on or off? If off, that's the nature of the beasts. If on (running), the idle speed is too high.

It's when the machine is running.I had the idle checked & they said it was wright on?? I guess it might just be the way the machine is? Thanks.

Right on what? Idle speed spec covers about 100 rpm and if you are at top high end, hard shifting. At the low end, problem solved. So idle "right on" would mean not much help if you are "right on" at 1350, but a lot at 1250. Mine had a 1000 miles on it and was still doing it, back the idle speed down about 100 rpm and problem gone.

We have the same problem with our 400A and 500A. Definitely turn the idle down helps. Also heard the same from the dealer. Have over 1000 miles on the 500 and plowed with it 6 times+ this winter. Still sometimes have to figit with it to get in Rev.

Depends on how many miles you have on it too, those 400's need about 500 miles or so to be broken in. When I had my 04 400 to get it in reverse I often had to give it a little bit of gas. Worked every time. Good luck

Thats exactly what I do. Give it a little gas and it works. I tried adjusting my idle and have it at about 1100 rpms. Any lower and it doesnt stay running all the time when you first start it.
