AC 400 4x4 on Trails
It's true that the 400 does well on trails. I have an 05 400. The one problem that I have with it is it does not work worth a darn in the sand dunes. The 650 lbs. just makes it sink. I was unable to climb any hills or go anywere that others went with other 4x4's. I was very disapointed considering how we like the ride in just about any other situation. So we are going to try to sell it and maybe look at other utilities or the Wolverine.
But my wife and I sure do love the independent suspesion and ground clearance. The suspension has keeped my wife out of trouble a couple of times were she may have rolled with a solid axle.

Next time try lowering your tire pressure for the sand, or better yet get a sport quad if you are gonna do sand.

The Artic Cat is my wifes. We mainly go on trails together, but when we go to Pismo Beach in CA or Sand Mnt. in NV, that is still the bike she uses. I tried lowering the pressure to about 3 psi and larger tires would probably make it worse. There is not enough power to keep the tires rotating while going up a hill that others can do. I don't expect it to keep up with my Raptor 700 in the dunes, but at least make it more than 100 ft out of the parking lot!
