Synthetic Winch Rope, what do you think and where to get it
Ok folks, What is your opinion? On ebay 50' for $62.00 rates at 8600LB strength. After yesterday playing and having to use my winch in the snow and finding a broken strand of cable via the point of finger I am into finding another type of cable.

i like mine. its a little harder to pull out when its on freespool, i guess because of the friction but i havent had any trouble with it yet. if you do switch you need to make sure you get the aluminum fair lead, steel will ruin the rope. thats what i was told anyway.

Synthetic won't rust, is much stronger, won't cause cuts in your hands, you don't need gloves to handle it, if it does break it won't snap back and hit you, won't kink, and it floats. I will get one in whenever I get the chance (been saying that for 2+ years).
You will have to get a new head for it, as you can't use the roller flairheads with the synthetic as if there is any inperfections in there it can cut the rope. Also, it is a good idea to get a "leader" for the synthetic rope too.

Been thinking about replacing my steel cable with synthetic. Never heard about the "leader" thing. What is it and how is it used?
