Thank you V2. If I wanted to get a little more power from the clutch, is changing the spring better?

There are clutch kits, which is a combo of new springs and weights, that help with low end, and takeoff power. They basically keep more tension on the belt.

If you buy a clutch kit for a 400 auto it doesn't come with weights. You get one spring (about half the length of the factory one, and 5 or 6 smallsprings that go on a plate type thing)

Where do I get the weights? The single spring must be the internal on?

I don't remember seeing any weights. You can ask your dealer or maybe your dealer will let you use a service manual?

i have talked to people who have put different weights in the 650 and they ultimately ended up taking them out. they said it would rev up way to high before engaging and it would engage to hard. they say all you have to do is put in different springs in the secondary and primary clutch.

Does the 400 auto have a prim. and sec.? I was just on the ,"Alpha Sport", and did not see this. If it is, what are the #'s to it?

the 400 has a completely different clutch system then the 650 does. the 650 has a clutch setup much like a snowmobile does.
