Default Brake locker for front diff

I don't want to put a locker in the front of my AC because I don't do a great deal of riding that would warrant that setup. But what I would like to do is to modify my braking system to be able to shut off my brakes all together and selectively choose which front brake to work. I don't want to use two brake levers but rather some 2 or 3 way valves. That would allow me to select either the left front or right front and brake that wheel whereby stopping it from spinning and transfering the power to the opposite front wheel.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions please leave your comments and suggestions.

By lightly appling the brakes it should transfer power the way it's set up. I do it all the time.
Also works with rear whell drive trucks if you use the emergency brake.

I have limited slip in the front, and when one wheel starts spinning up front - well you know it is really back in 2 wheel drive because the opposite front does nothing except sit there and take a work break.

Thanks for the tip - I will try it.

How did you get a limited slip in the front differential? Never heard of a limited slip diff. doing what you are saying yours does. Sounds more like the standard open differential.

It is true that it behaves more like an open front end but from things that I have read on the internet they are saying that the 03 400FIS has limited slip in the front. Could not prove it by me. But that is what people are saying anyway. I was always under the impression that a limited slip meant that if one tire lost traction the clutches would engage and trasfer the power to the other wheel... Seems like when I have one tire spinning the other one takes a work break and doesn nothing. Maybe if all wheels are on the ground and one slips a little the other will help.

But yes it behaves more like an open front diff than a limited slip... I guess maybe I will have to get my manual out or call the dealer and find out for sure... I guess in reallity it does not matter either way.... IF it has it has and if it doesn't it doesn't...

I still want to have a setup with some valves to shut off the brakes to all wheels and then to selectively choose which wheel gets braking when I pull the lever... this what I can stop that one wheel from spinnig and the power will go to the opposite side.

I was riding one day with some people and we were in some deep skidder tracks and a bunch of ruts... no one could steer up out of it... there were a couple guys that had lockers and could not pull off to the left or right to get out of the ruts... One guy had a two lever brake setup on his machine and he put one tire against the rut put the brake to it and gave it the gas and the other front started to climb and he released the brake and that tire sling shotted him right up out of the rutt that no one else could get out of... Well needles to say that really impressed me, when even guys with lockers on the front could not climb out... but I don't want his setup with two levers and two MC because he told me you have to be really carefull when going fast and trying to bring it down quickly because you have to apply equal braking with both levers. Nor for me... I either want full balanced braking with one lever and some valves...

I think I have to go with some sort of panel with 3 shut off valves... but I was kind of hoping to find a 3 or 4 way valve and hoped that someone may know of such a beast. One valve with several selectable selections such as "full", "left", "right", "off or rear", or something similar there, or, of, and, or about...

I could do it with two bias valves... front to rear and left to right... but that is really expensive.... same kind of bias valve used in NASCAR or other stock cars...

Three valves may not be too hard to do... and once all are shut off then just select which valve to which tire... Just have to remember to turn them all back on again once I don't need the selectivity anymore.

I guess with the brake mod you can really pull some wicked 360's too. Put the brake to the right front, turn it right and gas it... lol...

The brake mod can assist in turning too. Especialy in slow sharp turns... brake the front on the turn side and gas it... Talk about turning on a dime... All I need to do now is figure out how to get my left wheels to turn backwards while the right is turning forward and I can turn around right where I am sitting.... hehehe.
