Would you recomend a DVX 400?

I bought a kfx400, same as the z and dvx.
Only thing I would change would be the front sprocket. Up one tooth and then it's perfect for the trails.
Honestly, unless you're going to seriously race, I'd get the 400 over the 450.
After you buy the dvx, just remember when you're looking for parts on ebay to check all three. (ltz, kfx and dvx) Tons of parts out there for these.
Besides, before the big push for the 450's came about, the z400 (and clones) was the quad to have.

It's the same a a z400 except I have heard that the plastic is a real Witch to get off compared to the Z400. You might look at the Z also. I just love our Z and prefer to ride it over my 450R which rides like a hay wagon compared to the Z400. It almost as quick. The seat on the Z is 3 times as thick as the seat on a 450R. You cant go wrong getting either of the 400's!

The DVX's engine has been proven over the past years threw the Z. One of my buddies has a Z. and another has a KFX. And i will tell you from riding all three of them that there is NO difference other then plastic and the seat. My DVX has 13/41 sprokets which add a lovely amount to the bottem end with my full white brothers E-series exhaust (jetted at 165). Many different engine mods from pistons to cracks, but a real hp gain can come from a very easily done gasket swap. The engine that is in the z/kfx/dvx comes off of the dirtbike (not exactly sure which bike, any local cycle shop would know) but by taking the Base gasket off of the dirtbike engine and putting it in the place of the thicker gasket that is on the atv's will add amounts of compression to the 400 engine! And i PROMISE you that with a little sprocket work (13-41 / 13-40) new base gasket (off the dirtbike, to replace the atv's) and a decent exhaust with a good jet you wont even be able to hang on to the handle bars

get the DVX. Only difference is the plastics and seat. The DVXs' seat is hard as a rock, but you get used to it. I only notice when i ride mt trike (super soft seat, then jump on the dvx and instant discomfort for the first 10 minutes then you forget about it). If i was you id buy either the kfx,z or Dvx, which ever is the cheapest. Thats pretty much the only reason why i have the Dvx over the kfx or z is the price.(dads friend owns a AC dealership).
you'll notice a lot of magazines list stuff just for the kfx or Z. As long as its for an 04-07 any part will fit on the DVX( probably a lot of 03 stuff fits too).
DVX's plastics are all one piece unlike the Z which has 3. Its a little harder to work on stuff like carb and all that but its doable without taking any plastics off. The fenders on the DVX are bolted on so if they break you can buy new fenders instead of the entire plastic.
