hey guys im new here and someone told me you guys were the pros that can help me,i have a 2004 artic cat 650 twin 4x4 and the 2wd,4wd switch is working and the relay is good but the 4wd wont engauge the drive shaft is spinning but im not sure if it is electronicaly control or enguaged inside the diff, there is some sort of module onthe side of the diff not sure if that could be it but it seems like it just went out over night,i checked the fluid and the relay and fuses and they all seem fine, guys i would appreciate any help.

when you hit the 4wd switch you should be able to hear the actuator engage it into 4wd. if you don't hear that actuator then your problem probably lies anywhere between the switch all the way to the actuator, could be the fuse could be the switch or it could be actuator. i would try looking at the fuse first off as alot of times it is the simplest of things. also your front driveshaft will always turn no matter if you are in 4wd or 2wd.

so the actuater is in the differintial right ,im sorry im kinda confused, what is the module on the side of the front diff, does it have anything to do with the 4wd or the actuater.i checked the fuses on the right side and they were all good and the relay for th 4wd to 2wd switch was good also, thank you very much for the help.

this is off an '08 TRV. It may not be exact, but essentially this IS the 4X4 ACTUATOR attached to the side of the front differential.
When you flip the switch/button you should hear a fairly loud "ZZZZZRRRP" sound. That's the actuator engaging the front differential to "hook-up" w/the front driveshaft. There's a little plastic gear in there to make this happen. If you hear the sound....but nothing happens.....your gear is stripped and the ENTIRE actuator will need replacing. If you DON'T hear that sound....you've blown a fuse......or you've got a bad connection.....or a broken wire somewheres.
Now on my '08 to engage the 4LOC....it's a completely seperate CABLE on the actuator that works w/the electric compontent/plastic gear part to LOCK-UP the front diff. Thus I have 2 switches on my handlebars. One for 2-4 whl drive....and one for 4LOC.
Hope this helps
