squealing cat-o-matic
#1
I got another AC question. Another riding buddy of mine has a 500 AC automatic and is getting a loud squeling noise that sounds as if it is coming from the belt or clutch. It doesn't do it all the time and only does it after the machine is good and warm. It makes the noise in hi and low range when you first take of and then goes away. The local dealer said they don't know what is wrong with it and since he didn't buy the machine from him they won't do any more warranty work on it.
Any ideas?

So is the atv still under the 6 month warranty if so why not have the original owner bring it in. It doesn't matter what dealer you go to long as it is under the 6 month warranty they have to work on it. That is one thing that Polaris does for a fee of $30 or so you can transfer the ownership of the warranty be it 6 months or 5 years...Since in most states it is nothing more than a bill of sale looks like you could get the original owner to take it in, also give us a more descriptive detail of the problem and does it effect the performance of the cat...

Four_Play I don't know very much about the auto transmissions, but my unles Polaris made the same noise and it was his belt. I don't know if that is your buddy's problem or not, but as atving said take it to the ac dealer. I'm pretty sure they will fix it if it is under warranty. Good luck.

Atving,
It doesn't seem to affect the performance. The last time we went on a ride it did it about 3 times. He says it pulls fine, it just makes this screaching noise for second. It is still under warranty and he can take it back to the dealer he bought it from, but it's 50 miles away. We were a little miffed that the local dealer wouldn't do any more warranty work on it. They said it took them too long to get their money from Arctic Cat and if you didn't get your machine from him you were out of luck if you wanted any warranty work done. Has anyone else ever heard of a dealer doing this?
