I have to replace my winch cable...so I ordered up M-P Rope from...Master Pull
Supposed to be the cutting edge in recovery equipment.
The rope has a lot of benefits...stronger...safer...lasts longer(doesn't fray and stick you..ouch!!) and it's LIGHTER then cable!!! Little more expensive, but I am going to try it out. If the big rigs are using it, it can't be all bad!!

Fango,
I went to the sight and that stuff sounds awesome. I asked them and I will also ask you the same questions. Need to know if it will work with my existing pully that i have for the cable. That thing has saved my a$$ a few times and i don't want to have to buy a new one. The second how much better will it be for when I snow plow. I have the plow for one season and used for about 80hrs of plowing. Thats a lot of use on that cable. Its starting to look a liitle ragged. If it won't kink and frey than i will buy one also. Plus my hook doesn't have the latch that closes the gap. Open ended sucks. Thank for the info. Yes i can wait till you get it in the mail before you answer if thats necessary!!!
Thanks Tim

I haven't gotten the rope yet, but I can tell you a couple things Turfguy.....I took my hook off as soon as I got my winch and put a "carabiner" latch type hook on. They are strong, cheap and you can find 'em at any hardware store. Do you know what type of hook I mean??? That is the ticket for your cable.
The ATV rope is a little thicker than the cable, but I think you will still be able to use your ******-block pulley if it is big enough to take 1/4 in rope....I think mine will....I will check that this weekend.
As for as using it for winter plowing??? I don't see a problem with it.....but my plan is to cut the frayed end of the cable off....and put the rest on for winter use...because you are right...plowing can kill the first 3 or 4 feet cable. I will save my rope for the real hairy recovery situations.
