Default Air Box Problem

heya all, my ole air box is not sealing. While i wait for a new gasket (which i dont think will help) Anything i could use to seal it better. Ya i could use silicone or something and when i need to check the filter rip it off. Just wondering on other suggestions.

Default Air Box Problem

Just completed this mod a few weeks ago, the stock seal is terrible. I removed the pieces that attach the seal to the box, the little rubber rings, just cut them off. Once the seal is removed from the box use a little sand paper and scuff the surface up a little bit. This lets the silicone get a little better grip. I ran a bead of blue RTV silicone around the box and then put the seal on top of it. Align the lid and seal and apply light pressure, just enough to set the seal into the RTV. I let it dry overnight. The next day you have a new and impoved airbox seal. Now when you remove the lid the seal stays attached to the box and doesnt move around. Mine is watertight!!!!!!!! I also found a small crack in my airbox that was letting water seep in next to the snorkel. You may want to check for cracks on yours. I'm assuming you know the drain plug has to be sealed off with something.

GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!!

i did the exact same thing to mine!!!!

exept i out the lid back on the box and fastened her down, this way the seal will create a memory and mold to the lids shape!

WATER TIGHT AND READY!!!!hehe
