Default questions about a 1985 350X

I am looking at a 1985 350X. Are they desirable. Looks to be in very good original condition. Stopped and looked but did not talk to owner. For being a 1985 it looks real clean. What are they worth in good shape. Are they a two stroke? Are they fast? Do they have reverse? Where can I learn more.

Thanks for any input.

Default questions about a 1985 350X

How much does he want ?? No they do not have reverse. They are a 4 stroke. And they are fast , well about 65 mph stock. and they were very easy to make go faster. They are very desirable !!
A little more info :The 350x's were only made in 85 & 86
The 85's had red fenders.
The 86's had white fenders
They were not as fast as the atc 250r's.
It took a hell of a good leg to kick them for starting.
The 86's were improved for easier kicking (beter compression release as you kicked. But it still took the knowlegde to know how to kick them hard for them to start. I by no means am saying that they didnt run good or they was mechanically hard to start because they were/are very reliable. I am just saying that I had two of them my self and I used to say "if you can start it you can ride it". And this would keep many a people off. They would always start for me in one or two kicks.
They were 6 speed gear boxes.
The lights were awsome at night.
They were 60 mph wheely machines
And they never ran out of power.
I bought my first one in 3/86 sold it in the marine corps in 1991. Bought the next in 1992 sold it to my boss to buy my 400ex in 2001. He is doing a total restore on it. and that proving to be very difficult because most parts are no longer made. (anybody have any OEM plastic in there garage for sale ??)
Oh Yeah, They sell from about 900.00 to 3,500 depending on condition.

Default questions about a 1985 350X

I just called about one myself. It is a 86 all original from the original owner. It sounds like it is
good mechanical shape but may need cosmetics. He wants $900 for it which is to good to pass
up. I sold my last one for $1400 and have wanted it back ever since. Hopefully tomorrow
I'll be riding this one

Default questions about a 1985 350X

If anyone needs parts let me know. I've got a complete bike minus the crank, clutch pressure plate, and axle lock nut. I would like to sell it complete without getting stuck with left over parts. I was going to do a ground up rebuild but funds wouldn't allow that at the time and now I just don't have the time.

Can you sell me a brake hub off the rear of your parts bike? And 1800.00 is not a bad price for a 350x if its in nice shape with original plastic. and 900 bucks is a killer deal.

Well, I did it. I could not say no. It was a little dirty but I have been working on that for
a couple of hours. I can't find anything that has to be done just a lot of I want parts. It
will will keep me busy for a few days cleaning and painting. I like having something now
that I can work on and not have to worry about tearing something up. These things are
nearly bulletproof.

I also have a 1985 parts bike minus plastics. If anyone needs anything email me and I'll see if I have it for ya. Send a PM with needs. I will not reply to this post about parts.

Default questions about a 1985 350X

It's actually my 3rd one. This time I will be smart enough to keep it(I hope). The plan
is to take care of the cosmetics for now and performance will come later. I bought this
one to try to make it look as good as possible and use it to play around the yard and to
ride it to the pool. It is amazing that hardly nobody notices me on the 350x but gives
me looks that could kill on the DS. I guess it could have alittle to do with the noise
of the exaust. Any helpful hints of the little stuff to do to them would be appreciated.
