Default Tecate Cylinder.......KNOWSALOT, please help

The cylinder on my 86 tecate has some pretty big chunks taken out of it and its going to cost well over $250 to fix the cylinder alone. I have found a replacement sleeve for just under $100, I know sleeves usually are not the best option but in my case could a sleeve be considered?????? College is kinda draining my funds right now and its either fix it or sell it and I would really hate to sell it. Thanks for your help.

The cylinder or the sleeve on it now has chunks missing? which part?

Anyway if it is the sleeve only then I would take that sleeve you can get for 100$ have a local shop drop it in and then rebuild it.

Thanks all, I think I'm gonna go order me a sleeve now. The part that is missing is on the two ports halfway up the cylinder that are on the sides of the piston wit the wrist pin openings. The ports on each side are broken. Will I have to order a special piston since It won't be a nikasil coated bore or will any piston work???? Thanks guys, I was really hoping this was the answer I'd get.

Is it the sleeve portion of the port or the cylinder portion as well??

There is no special piston required.

I think it got a little bit of the cylinder as well as the portion that the sleeve will take up. I am hoping the local machine shop can fix it so that when the sleeve is installed it will fit with no gaps. I am waiting to hear from the guy at the machine shop to know if this is even going to work. I am supposed to take the cylinder in monday to have them look at it and measure some stuff to see if it is savable because it was late today when I took it in and they were pretty busy.
