Default 350X Front Wheel Options

Has anyone ever used or found a wheel other than stock to use on the front of the 350X's. I would like to find a 10" that would fit to have more/better tire selection's.

Douglas makes a special 10" wheel for the front of the 250R and 350X. Many people use them with a special tire like Mohawk or Sand Star, however it doesn't leave enough clearance for the brake caliper. On our 250R, we took an eBay gold 250R wheel and soaked the gold off, polished it and it now looks like an aftermarket wheel with a 23x8.5-11 Skat Trak Mohawk. Very nice setup...

I used Red Devil Lye (drain opener) in about 8 gal. of water. It takes several minutes to start working, but the wheel will fizz like an Alka-Seltzer in the solution. Eventually the lye will eat the aluminum, but if used correctly it will remove the anodizing leaving the bare polishable aluminum. Caustic soda will also remove the anodizing, but is more expensive and dangerous.

I don't think the ratio is very important. I believe I read somewhere that it is one cup to one gallon. Try searching for removing annodizing on the net... I just put 1/4-1/3 a bottle in a large Rubbermaid container of cool water, probably 6 gallons. The weaker the mix, the slower it takes to remove gold, the stronger the less time you have to work with it. We use a pretty strong mix, but it still takes some underwater scrubbing to get all the gold off. If the mix is very strong, you leave them in for too long, or you don't rinse them thouroughly the lye will eat the aluminum away. I totally dissolved a Dr. Pepper can! have done one complete set for my TRX and a front for the ATC... With some polishing, they look very nice.
