I just noticed that my big red will go into reverse without pushing the button and pulling the cable back. Its kind of nice but I dont want to tear anything up. Any answers or do you think this is a problem. Thanks in advance

 

hi there i also have 85' 250 bigred check to see on the right side if the lever is already up down below you might need to spray it and move it around manually mine did it also .

 

Generally, the issue is with the cable binding due to lack of lubrication. But more times than not, if it has gotten that bad you will likely need a new cable and lubing the current one is only a temporary fix.
