if its getting spark it wont be the condensor. most likley bad gas, sparkplug or the timing is off. theres ignition timing and valve timing. id check both if its not the gas or plug.

Valve timing? How could you possibly adjust that or need it to be adjusted?

70s can be tricky
They are a wasted spark engine
Meaning the plug fires every time the piston comes up
even though they are a 4 stroke engine
I do not think any of the 70s were CDI
The points opening and point gap is your timing once the basic valve timing is set
gap
How good of spark are you getting
are you sure the gas is getting to the cylinder
I have worked with a couple of these both had same issues
I ended up with new plug
adjust points
If points are pitted they can be filed
Use a point file do not use sand paper
Or replace points set gap
keep in minde the wider the point gap the more advanced the ignition timing
Thanks

Please do explain this Valve timing adjustment to me. Are you possibly talking about checking the valve clearance? Or maybe you think the cam chain magically jumped over a few notches on the cam sprocket and this needs to be reset? I guess if you loosened the cam chain tensioner all the way then there would be some slack and make no more than a 2* difference. But if you have a tool that repositions cam lobes I want to hear about it!

My verbage did not come out correct
That is what I get for thinking and typing
Sorry
I ment
Once the basic valve timing is confirmed
Then
The ignition timing is set with the point gap
Bigger gap more advance
Smaller gap more retard
Thanks
