natalie jr. vs. byrd

Who do you think is better? Personally I like John natalie jr. better. He knows what it takes to win the title while joe byrd is a great racer but i dont hes got what it takes to win.

Wow dude, tough question. I think, looking at the points standings this year up until Natalie broke his thumb, you can safely say Byrd is the better rider so far this season. However, as you pointed out Natalie is a former champ and Byrd has yet to win the title.
I think this season is Byrd's. He started out very strong with 1-1 overall finishes at the first two rounds. And he has won the final race of the year at Loretta Lynn's the past two years in a row. So things are looking good for "the professor" to bring home the number one plate this year.
As far as being better riders, that's just a tough call. I have seen both riders do some sick things in the Huevos videos and on the race tracks. I would have to say it's too close to call, but Byrd does seem to be in better physical shape, at least this year. Natalie was seen fading in some early rounds because of arm pump, and Byrd shot around him in a few of those races.
Seeing that they are both on similar machines, I think the only way to determine who is the better rider is to start comparing lap times. It might be one of the more fair ways of judging. But there are also other factors to consider: Natalie is extremely likeable and probably has quite a few more fans than Byrd. However, we don't see Natalie holding his own motocross school either.
Tough question man, I'm curious to see other people's responses to this.
