are those both AMA sanctioned races? I was under the impression that if they are all AMA races the rules should all be the same... Do you know if the rules vary slightly between tracks or states that you race in? That would explain why your track needs nerfs and no headlights. I just think it would suck to go all the way out to a race and have them tell me I can't ride if I am not set up properly.

 

I've kept headlights on in AMA sanctioned ice racing. I didn't need them, but they didn't have a problem with me running them.

As has been said nerfs and a WORKING kill switch are required. I've seen that some tracks have their own requirements like chest protectors and other protective gear.

Main reason people remove lights is to be light as possable.
