brand A vs. brand B for racing
i allways see this on these forums. yzf or 700r, which one is best? and the typical answer is usually for more trails get the 700 with the occasional race once in a while. now my ? is does the 700r have a class for itself or are you racing with 450's. i would think a 700r in a 450 class would get beaten every time on a mx track. the gncc or is it gnnc races are usually trail races if im not mistaken and you usually see the 450's doing all the winning. hope this makes sense... thanks

Ok look, the raptor 700r is a complete BEAST. fast as hell. rides like a dream, handles great.. best quad ever IMO
The yfz is a complete BEAST.. fast as hell.. rides like a dream.. handles great.. But is setup wide and stiff for a mx track.
If the same person was duplicated and put one on a yfz450 and one on a raptor 700r... the guy on the 450 would pwnn cauz its just READY to go on the track.. its built for the track it wants to ride on the track

The best eh..
What machines you race against will depend on the santioning bodys. All have different rules and classes.
As mentioned (GNCC), for example, I'm in the 35+ class and race against any and all.
My buddy has a raptor. I agree with all the above (well mostly). Good machine, good power and acceptable suspension/handling.Same with the 400ex. Both machines were the new age answer to years of no new sport models. Now for the even newer age, LOL. The 450's have the newest technology, thus arguably the better machine "to date". I consider the raptor/400ex great machines but more for the casual weekend warrior, family trail rides, good all around ride.
But that's me! I would never think of either of the above. The 450 is it period.. For me. I ride his raptor and it's a world of difference from my widened, suspended, lowered R.
For you, knowing what, where, and how you want to ride will help make your decision.
Hope this helps a lil.
Have fun and be safe.
