A polaris sportsman would be a great choice. You have lots of models to chose from, 400, 500, 600, and 700. They are all about the same size, just with different engines. You are tall, but not really "big". But, I would still stick with at least a 500 or bigger. With that said, you may want to look at the Sportsman 600. It has almost as much power as the 700, but gets better gas mileage. Plus, you can't beat the ride of the IRS. But ride them all and see what you like

I really appreciate all of the advice! It has been very helpful. I have two buddies that have quads. One has a Prairie 650 and the other has a Sportsman 700. The problem is that the friend with the P650 just bought his and really doesn't know much about it and the guy with the Sportsman 700 is "Polaris all the way" and his opinion is obviously skewed! I've had a chance to ride them both (very breifly) and I was pretty impressed with both of them. Oddly the P650 seemed to pull harder that the 700 Sportsman!

Right now I have to say that I'm leaning toward the Grizzly. Mainly because I can get a pretty good deal on a "new" 2003 model right now. I haven't ridden one yet but feedback from guys who have makes me think that it has everything I'm looking for. I'm going to try to ride one this weekend if I can.

Also, I recently learned that there's a possibility that I might be able to get a really good deal on a 2004 Suzuki Vinson. This is a quad that I know very little about. Any thoughts on this model specifically?

I'll let you all know what I decide. Thanks again! This forum has been very helpful and I'm sure it will be in the future too.

I have ridden a Vinson quite often as my best friend has one and I love it.It is a sweet machine.Lots of power and very quick. My friend is 6'3" and he has plenty of room on it.It is almost a perfect match for him.

New Prairie 700, it's no longer just a 650.

My buddy just got the Grizz a week ago. He let me take it for a ride yesterday. That thing is NICE. Lots of power. When you are moving down the trail it feels lighter than it really is, must be that 660cc motor, great suspension too. The thought actually crossed my mind to sell my Wolverine to get one. I must admit, I haven't rode any of the others but I was really impressed with the Grizz.
