dont buy that kid a new bike. what in the hell is wrong with a 300ex at 16?
he is lucky to have a 300 and a sled at the same time as it is. if a 16 year old doesent have a job he is a bum or his parents arent pushing him like they should.or they are just rich and live a sort of life i have no idea about.
i have had a job sence i was about 10 years old and was forced to save my money. i baught my first bike with my own cash it was a honda 110. i baught my own boats i husteled for what i wanted.first car at 15 with a blown up motor. i rebuilt and drove at 16 when i got my licence. i put new rings and a head on it. by my damn self. i grew up in a shop so this was nothing new to me. i built all my car motors in high school.and i fixed cars for others for some side money. the kid could have it allot worse.
it is not a parents job to supply a kid with what they want it is a parents job to supply them with what they need.. and to teach them how to go out and get what they want for there damn selfs.
i buy my 5 year old son cool stuff. but i give that little SOB hell to when he aint acting rite.and when he gets taller and stonger "old enough to be usefull" i will get all of that back out of his hide and then some.
my boy will learn how to fend for his self to get what he wants . and if he dont well tough $#it for him i geuse . if he wants to be like that then it's just going to be allot tougher for him thats all. he'l learn.
keep it old school!
i ant even going to get my kid a nintedo or whatever the hell they have now. i seen what that does to kids. little pale useless kids that dont go out side. to lazy to steal lumber to build a tree house. cant even swing a hammer anyway probably cant even climb a tree . make a stand dude.

Hold on...(pulling up my pants for all the BS in here)...that's better. Now is the time for your kid to start living life in Realityland. You know, the land where everything isn't just handed to you in a silver platter? You did right by putting your foot down. And someday, believe it or not, he will thank you for it. You just put him on the first step to becoming a man, where he has to start working hard for things he wants. Pay no attention to the nonsense from these people saying you should buy him everything he wants. They either weren't hugged enough as kids, or are hugged too much as adults.

carlw wants the best for his kids but he won't buy a nintendo for them but he'll be on his computer with the rest of us "lazy pale useless kids that don't go outside"and not bother to do a spell check?
I give carlw all the credit in the world for surviving but give his kid an education and he'll be much better off.

The reason your kid is grumpy is because he is SPOILED and used to getting what he wants apparently. It is scary how badly americans are in debt. The only thing I will ever take out a loan for in reguards to my children is college!

95wolv, you did the right thing. Most kids today think the world owes them everything.

you did the right thing, when i was his age i wanted a new snowmobile and a new fourwheeler but my dad always had older machines on the farm that ran fine and did what i wanted them to do that served the purpose. i worked hard on the farm and got a job on top of working on the farm and high school on top of that. i didn't know it then but that was a valuable life lesson that you should rely on yourself cause when it comes down to it you shouldn't have to rely upon others. i had some buddies growing up that were spoiled rotten and now the large majority of them can't hold down a job for nothing. and now that i am older and got a great job a house and many toys that are all payed for in full my dad goes out and buys new atv's and nicer vehicles. i asked him why he didn't when i was growing up and he looked at me and smiled and said i didn't dare have anything nice cause you would have run the wheels off of it anyways. all i could do was chuckle cause he was 100 percent right.
