Correction, its an '06 off the dealer floor, interesting to learn of the small numbers, oh well I just don't trust the China/Web site deals, whats a few extra hundred to go with a reputable brand, I also liked how it sat next to the Susuki 50 which seemed too tiny, this they can grow into until they need a 90.

We sat the little ones down to watch the DVD which goes over allot of the safety stuff but I will check that link out for sure! She seems to have gotten it down yesterday with what was a perfect day out, neighborhood kids lined up in rotation and never got bored. Now what to do with the grass track forming around my house ?

I really liked that e-ton with the remote kill feature, but my dealer who gave me the package deal does not carry that line, plus the DVX50 matches mine, not hung up on that sort of thing but sort of worked out good in that regard.

The one complaint I have is the brake lock, she has to use two hands to squeeze it tight enough and does not have a third hand to push the little button. I have not investigated any adjustments on that yet. Just getting back into bikes after years of snowmobiling, it will all come back I'm sure, any tips would be helpful, mabye it will break in on its own (?) ...

Hey, BTW, we just had a great trip to Ontario in Feb to Blue Mountain, what a blast! cya

Michirider, the number one thing I would say is to get your daughter under control or she will hurt herself. The AC DVX 50 is a big bike, some 250 lbs on a large frame, and it has a very tight turning circle. Which is one reason why it only goes about 9 mph stock. There are ways to make it faster, but I wouldn't just yet. Look at the statistics on kids' injuries - they are scary.

In fact, I would look at the ATV safety Institute booklet, which gives you a checklist of what your child should have and be able to do before riding. It may seem unnecessary to you, but go have a look at it - you will be surprised at the number of issues, many of which you can work on with your daughter. The website is

www.atvsafety.org

When you get there, click on Library/Safety Tips, and then scroll (way) down to the Document,

"Parents, Youngsters, and ATV Vehicles".

It is 52 pages long, and is an excellent publication that I would recommend it to anyone with a younster.

In any case, keep me posted, OK? There aren't too many out there that I've seen with the Arctic Cat DVX 50 (due to heavy competition from Mainland Chinese quads), so we are a small club! It is a great quad, made in Taiwan where I believe all the really good kid's quads are, it uses a lot of Kymco parts (again, a good company), and it is physically big enough to last you kids a long time - you could perhaps even drop a 90 cc in it years later, instead of buying a new machine! (Maybe I'll even do that myself when my 9 year-old needs more power years down the road.)

By the way, your new Quad isn't a 2007 is it? I had heard that Arctic Cat was discontinuing the 4-stroke DVX 50 after only one year (2006), due to lack of sales volume.

Thanks for posting that atv safety web site. I have read that in the past and it should be required reading for anyone thinking about putting a kid on a quad.

Kids are a hoot to take ridding and they really enjoy the freedom and power a quad gives them but they are still kids and will make bad choices from time to time. Close supervision is absolutely mandatory to keep them safe and this web site gives us, as the trainers, information and ideas we may not have thought of on our own.

Again, thanks for helping all of us watch out for our little ones.

Michirider, our DVX 50 has the same problem Re: the parking brake. It is loosening up a bit (but not enough just yet). However, the brake is also loosening up, so you can now push the quad when the parking brake is on. I might have to tighten it up again!
