Back Again What Should I Get??
Well if you remember me i used to post here a while ago and no i still havnt bought a quad or anything but now this summer i am determined i already stacked some dough and have a few summer jobs lined up but im still not sure what i want. The first thing im looking at is obviously used since i simply cant afford new because mom and dad arent going to be helping with this. Also im interested in a 400ex z400 or kfx400. This is going to be my first quad and im not sure if i should start with a 400 but due to my size (6'2 225lbs) i dont want to get something underpowered and slow. I have rode quads in the past i started on a honda 90 but that was a few years ago and i dont know how to use a clutch (i know how it works and how to do it just no experience) but my dad rides motorcycles and im sure he can teach me and also searching craigslist i found alot of 400ex's nd z400s for around $2500-3000 so thats kinda in my price range
also im going to be riding trails and tracks so what quad should i get?

Being similar in height and weight I didn't want to go smaller either. I recently picked up a used 400ex and so far I love it! Prior to this my atv experience was a family outing on my cousin's Grizzly 660, which is automatic. It really didn't take more than a ride or two to get used to shifting the EX. It almost immediately felt comfortable and easy to ride while putting around in the drive, while also have enough power to keep me entertained as I get more riding time and the skills increase. Plus I like the proven reliability and simplicity.

Wow, we answer at least 10 of these "which 400" posts every week!
Pick the EX if you mostly ride very tight slow trails where you have to go slow. It has an engine that will lug down and you can just idle throught the technical stuff.
Pick the Z for everything else!
Both have excellent handling, good suspension, and solid reliable engines!

Dude, for your size you would love a DS 650 and you can find them in the same price range as the 400's all over the place. Much more power, torque, comfort, etc than any little 400. Take it from me don't buy a small underpowered machine for your size. I can speak from experience as I own a mildly built Z400 and DS650. Good luck Man!
