The new yfz450x seems to me like the best trail bike on the market... But the raptor seems to suet most people! If you want a nimble perfect handling trail quad the new yfz450x is the way I would go. That is if you don't mind not having reverse, but any half decent rider don't need reverse any way...

Between the two it comes down to picking a Cadillac(700Rap) over a corvette(yfz450)...And the 400ex is just an extremely reliable quad. The kfx and z400 are exactly identical as far as most aspects and have a little more pep in there step than the 400ex line.

Trail riding I'll take a stock 450 and eat raptors all day! On the dunes, well that's a different story.

If your a laid back type of rider go 700 but if you cant stay off the throttle go 450. As for the rest the kfx, z, and 400ex I think technology has past there day and the other bikes I suggested its there time to shine. Go 450 or 700 and nothing else, if affordable, if not the 400 class is just fine.

pimp what years were the yfz450x made? as of now i probably can only and should only spend around $2500.. also i heard the 450's were more MX bikes and needed to stay high in the Revs. also are they harder to maintain? i heard they frequent oil changes and valve adjustments, I am mostly looking for something with a little less maintenance...

well keep em comin

it almost seems like for the price and maintenance aspect of it the Z400 or 400EX seems to be good..

I did hear some of the Z400' had weak frames though... I would only be trailing riding this quad with most likely no jumps(if anything just the humps you see in MX or something like that, nothing crazy at all)

Its new this year, its a more nimble version of the yfz set up specifically for woods riding, tight trails etc... As far as sport quads the previous suggestions is all I would go for. 2500$ you could pick up a z or an ex. Like I said the ex is a legend of a bike when it comes to reliable.

I dont understand why alot of people bag on the yfz saying you need to keep revs high! Im guessing the majority never owned a 2 stroke. I have also heard there high in maintenance, they rev higher so technically I guess they would be a shorter engine life.

420pimp ya i guess so, damn that 450x does look sick but to much dough for me.

hmm so what do you think is better a Z400 or a 400ex?
whats more reliable?
least maintenance?
and how is the Z's frame, heard its weak in the 04 and previous models? like i said i wont be doing any jumps on it or anything crazy just trail riding and some hills maybe the occasional hump or two..

I cant personally speak for the z on reliability but I can for the 400ex and you know there all around great quads. Im not saying the z is not reliable by any means but it is quicker and a lot snappier. If it was me I would pick a z400 over a 400ex. I can remember when they first came out with the z400 everyone was making a big deal about them because stock to stock the z400 would spank an ex all day. Matter fact an old buddy of mine bought one when they first came out.

Can any one else speak for the z. Opinions?

i've heard from racers the 400ex handles like a dream compared to the Z. i took my EX because of reliability. who wants a quad that you go for a day ride then you're wrenching on it? mine i can go for a 5 day camping ride wash it off at home clean it up and im good!
