polaris sportsman 400HO
#1
Hey folks, i'm new to this forum, I am looking at the polaris sportsman 400 and need some feedback both positive and negative. I just plan to use it around the house hunting and some trail riding. Not into the huge 4-wheelers just want something in the middle class range. I once had a rancher 350 and liked it ok. Please don't hold back I need expert advise. If there is another brand in the same price range that is better let me know. Thanks!!!

It may be middle class in motor size, but the 400H.O is a full size ATV chassis wise, its the same chassis as the 800 Sportsman. 2011 Polaris Sportsman® 400 H.O. ATVs
The Rancher is a Mid size chassis not a full size. A 400H.o is physically the same sized as a 680 Rincon.

The 400 Sportsman is actually a 455 motor in a full size chassis. it is much larger then a Brute force 750, grizzly 750 and any stock honda. I bought a 2012 sportsman 400 in Feb and put about 600 miles on it. Solid ride, dependable, very comfy ride. If using around the house and property, it would work well. If you are into a sporty ride, that is not the quad for you. They do take some effort to turn at low speed also. I sold it last month for a 2012 Brute 750 as I wanted eps and something a lot more sporty, but the Polaris is a fine machine. One more thing...I think resale on the 400's is not near as good as the 500's...the 500 is the most popular auto atv of all time and everyone knows them...just something I ran into when selling mine.
