Default Need some help picking

Hey, I know I already posted under this but I was wandering what I should get, I want something that will keep up with a ltz400 and follow a sportsman500. I have about $2500 to spend and I have a 1995 Honda 300ex, Its pretty old but still reliable and thats why I like Honda but EX's seem a bit gutless according to reviews. I do a little trail riding, mostly gooning, jumps, and snow riding. I'm not the best mechanic either since i'm only 13 so 2 strokes are almost out of the question. But im open to about any brand. If anybody has any suggestions feel free to leave them here. Thank

I'm sure you thought of this already but if you got an ltz too you would keep up to the other one, but it may not be age appropriate.

2 strokes are easier to work on than 4 strokes.

300EX is a great little machine from what I remember of it. Sure it's not going to keep up with a 400 for top end but on tight trails you should be fine. I'm confused as to why you're relying on reviews to tell you it's gutless tho if you own it??

I'm with Andy tho, stick with the 300 for now. I wouldn't be turning my 13yr old loose on a 400 or a sportsman, unsupervised. Heck, I don't think I'd let him off on a 300 just yet.

Haha I know im pretty young but the 300 is almost 20 years ikd and I saved up a lot of money from lawns, driveways and that stuff so I want to pick right the first time.My freinds are getting bigger and better so it would be nice to keep up. And I meant the 400's are a little gutless I heard, but I could always go down on a sprocket to accelerate faster.

Why are you screwed? They are easier to maintain AND rebuild and are just as reliable. I am not trying to convince you to get a 2-stroke, I am simply stating that your mechanical skill will not be challenged any more by a 2-stroke than a 4-stroke. I have both, and love them both. However, I do prefer my 4-stroke because of I don't have to mix the gas and it doesn't mind being lugged around as much. If you are referring to the TRX400, it is not gutless. Much stronger than the 300, but not as strong as a 450. Consider the money you are going to spend AND how hard you had to work to get it. Take your time and ride different machines. The worst thing you can do is buy something out of your league and end up messing yourself up...or worse.

older is actually better really, while i do love the new features it's really also more stuff that can break plus 1 big plus for older models is they are actually mainly steel while the newer stuff has a ton of plastic on it
