Default gas drippin out of carb overflow tube?

hi guys, my 03ds tends to drip a bit out of the black drain or overflow tube on the bottom of the carb bowl, the only thing i've done on the bottom of the carb is change a jet once, so i don't think the float got tweaked, it has'nt done this for a long time, but it is a little annoying, even with the gas turned off in the garage and sitting for a few days there is still a spot from a few drips on the floor, when we went riding yesterday it seemed to drip every 20 or thirty seconds when it was off and just parked, any ideas guys? it runs perfect and does'nt bog so i'm a little confused on a source for the drip, thanks, josh.......

umm, mine does the same thing if it's just hanging there, it won't drip if it's pointing upwards...

I just use those 1-time-use platics ties to latch it to the frame along with my other overflow or vent tubes or hoses.

I use a TM45...when I took it apart, I had left it dangling and a $h|Tload of gas came out without me noticing, so I just pointed it upward and never had a problem.

Hope I helped.

Thanks

Maybe the float is out of adjustment, or you may need a new O ring.

Try dropping the bowl and cleaning out the drain with some carb cleaner or brake cleaner.

Could be you have something (like a tiny grain of sand) in the seat of the shut-off valve (screw.)

Had a simual problem, it would come and go. I'm with BigWaynester, if it leaks when it's not running, most likely dirt in the float needle or like mine, the O-ring for the float needle seat was leaking. Fixed it with a 10 cent O-ring from NAPA Autoparts.

so there's an o ring at the drain screw location? i'll check it out. and in the mean time it's still got a small drip spot on the concrete from the tube, umm an idea about the float setting, if it got bumped and was way off would'nt it run funny or bog at some rpm or load condition? the motor pulls great and starts quick, maybe when i clean the air filter this weekend i'll look down the carb throat to see if gas is present in the venturi area, the o ring senario sounds the most likely so far, but while it's off how should i check the float setting? anyone? thanks again everybody.. josh...

My 2000 has always done this, could never figure it out. What i did was primative, but it worked. Replaced the hose with a little longer one and tied a knot in the hose.
