I just talked to my Dad and he thinks the carb I have is either a 44 or a 46, but I'm not sure if going through the trouble of getting this carb to work is worth it because I have my stock carb tuned about PERFECT and plan on doing the spring coil cutting tommorow. Would it be worth my time to make this carb work? I don't think so but may be u have better opinions, how much will I gain? It's a mukuni 44 or 46 off some kind of snowmobile. Round-slide also. Ideas????

so now the question is how does a ski doo with twice the carb of the TM45 have an easy thumb throttle? sounds like all we need is better engineering in the lever for using the otherwise perfect TM45 w/ pumper. I love the TM45, will love more if I can reliably use the pump on a thumb throttle.

i'm thinking the design of the thumb throttle itself has something do to with it, along with maybe a softer spring?

yeah, these motorcylce carb designs did not think about throttle lever tension because they were made for a twist. its up to us to make them easier on the pull. if a seadoo or skidoo is using a TM like ours with a pumper, and its thumb lever is easy enough to not cripple your hand after 1 hour of riding, then it must be in the leverage of the throttle. the question is IF they're using the pump, and the 2-stroked may not be needing it, I just don't know.

I'm off on a tangent here though, I really am just generally interested and curious in what others have done with their carburation, and no idea is a bad idea.

another thing i was thinking is the way the throttle cable is routed it, theres very little amount of turn after the handlebars on a sled, and i was looking at my bros sled (mxz700) and it has VM-40s on it

if i ever get a 45 or bigger i'll prolly try a skidoo throttle
