Default Float Level

My Ds was less than 8 mos. old and needed the floats adjusted. I don't do a lot of jumping. My question is do they come out of adjustment a lot. It was very easy to adjust so it isn't a big problem, I just want to know what to expect. The metal seemed very easily bendable. How often does everyone else adjust the floats. The carb in question is the stock one.

how do you adjust the floats, and how do you know when they need adjusting?

I've never had to, over 140 hours on my bike, and I haven't had to adjust the float on any of my other bikes I've had through the years either, even my 17 year old 350X. i think if a float needs adjusted, it might have been set wrong from the factory, or maybe bumped and knocked outa wack during jet changes by somebody.

saint - the float can only be adjusted by bending the metal tab on the end of it to contact the needle valve sooner or later. all carbs have a float level spec, stock DS spec is 10mm. you measure by holding carb upside down - measure from bottom of carb body (where bowl seals against) to bottom of float (eyeballing from side).
