Does the five valve radial design on the Aprilia Pegaso do anything as far as far as performance is concerned? I did a little research on the 5 valve motor and it doesnt have a higher rev limit or more h.p. From the looks of dynos sheets the motor makes the same or less power then the DS motor. So why the 5 valves? Anyone have more info on this motor or the potentials for it? They are selling whole bike on
E bay for 2500.00 bucks.

Can you get just a 5 valve head for a DS motor? I would also like to know if there is a difference...... I bet it would rev quicker!!

 

Majorecho had one of these motors to check out. After looking at it really closely, it was determined that the head sucks and that the Ds head was far better. I dont remember why we came to that conclusion but it was obvious.

 

we have a wonderful example of why the 5 valve head isn't great( raptor) i've heard it is good after 10000 rpms but not many reach that area.

 

I think the 5 valve design was a rotax oiginal. When BMW wanted the motor for the F650 they designed the 4 valve head for reliability reasons.
