having 1000 to spend

My opinion on the 14:1 piston is Don't. Run the 12:5:1 and you will have no worries and you can run it on 100 octane fuel right out of a local station. If you want more compression put in a +4 degree advance key and it will make your bike more like a 13:5:1 and you can still run the 100 octane. Key is $10.00 from RWR and it wakes up the bottom end of your bike when you put the bigger cams in.

As far as the the 14:1, its simply an 11.5:1 piston with a progression on the top. If you study the piston as I have, you'll notice there is no increased danger of the valves coming in contact with the piston over the 11.5:1. They have been tested and tried and I back them 100%. Of the 5 people that I know that run them, including Mr. Horsepower, they are great. If there was a problem, I wouldn't have them "you know where" or in my own quad. Another benefit of the 14:1, is that I can progress easily into running alcohol for the next step!
I will agree with you on the fuel. I was running 50% premium and 50% race with the 11.5:1, now I will need to run 100% race. However, the 13.5:1 will need more than 100 octane to run, and I don't know that many stations that have 100 octane either. However, I am luckier than most on the Race Gas. The station down the street from me carries race fuel for ATV enthusiasts. If I find I am going through a lot of it, I can always become an AMSOIL dealer and get their 110 from California in 50 gallon drums delivered to my Apartment! Maybe even open a gas station in my garage! LOL!

Out of 5 guy's running the Key only one has sheared it. And that was probably because he didn't use the correct loctite on the shaft. Yes Elliot and I also discussed this at length. That mag is like a snowmobile clutch, when that thing gets pressed on it normally Stays ON. You use Loctite 648 and you will be just fine. The key is only there as an alignment tool anyway, it serves no real purpose other than aligning the mag up on the crank.

weather you should or should not run the high compression i'm not a expert on that subject but after going to 13.5-1 i know the thing comes out of the hole hard and if i had more paddles i would have had a problem ( no swingarm) well it does cost for race gas but then again it is entertainment and how much more are you willing to pay for a better entertainment, for me twice the price on a gallon of gas is ok if i raced and used 50 gallons a month that might change my thoughts but i only use about 6 gallons of race gas for a three day weekend which works out to be about 10 gallons of fuel, but then i drive 200 miles to ride so that is cheap compared to the cost of the trip. plus i think that fuel went into a fork lift and that would make it a business write off right, or did it go into the truck or other power equipment, i guess you see how that works.
