Default Front Sand Tires

Since it seems that all of you guys just ride dunes maybe you can help me. I am planning my first trip to the dunes in OK and want to know if I need a set of dedicated sand front tires or will the RAZR's that I have on now be enough. The group I am going with only go twice a year. I am going with the new sand stars for the rear. It is kind of different here in Iowa so all of my friends run stock tires on the front and say I don't need them. Any help and advice is appreciated.

I haven't tried Sand tires on the front of my DS...but I've tried the stock dominators (worse than RAZR's, by far) up front and they aren't too too bad in sand....They steer fair but they tend to slide sideways during hard cornering or while trying to carve...It's not a major issue..and I don't think the sand only fronts are necessary for twice a year...JMO

hey Tyre. What is Richard Simmons doing as your icon. Does he go riding with you or????? Just wondering if he's ever been on a quad or wether he just prances around on all fours?

Anyway thanks for the replies.

No, just before each ride...he helps me stretch and then do a few exercises...While he sings " Good Golly, your fat, goodness gracious work those buns" in a high-pitched voice while he dances and grinds for my viewing pleasure...

No he doesn't ride my DS...he's not used to having a real set of ***** between his legs...

Yes, but I just want to know if it is worth spending the money for two times a year. Now if someone has a slightly used set they would like to sell I may be interested.

I run Dune Tracker 22" fronts and they work great. I never realized how much of a difference it made until I got lazy one time and left my dirt tires on the front and just ran with the paddles on the back. It was much more squirrely at speed and didn't turn nearly as well. I won't make that mistake again. I don't know anything about the Sandstar tires, but everyone who has the Dune Trackers swears by them. That said, I still don't know if it is worth another set of tires/wheels for twice a year. I got a swingin' deal on my sand tires on eBay, maybe you could find some there too. Good luck with your decision.
