Hey: Guys I need help

My bike will not start. I have battery power and believe all my connections are good. The red and green lights come on with the key but nothing happens when I hit the starter button. I did get it to start tonight, by jumping the soloind. I removed the small wire on the outside(the yellow one) closest to the drivers side.
I then supplied a 12 volts from the 1 large post on the soloind (that goes to positive side of the battery) and it started.
Does this mean I have a bad soloind, starter sitch, ect.

Please help

Yep..just 2. I just replaced my battery a couple of months ago. Mine was making a grinding noise though in the starter. I replaced the battery and it's worked fine since. Your's sounds like a different problem...????? maybe someone else can help out?

If you have a test light or multimeter, disconnect the small (yellow)wire on the starter relay (solenoid), turn the key on, hold the starter switch on (use a friend's help or a small clamp), check to see if there is voltage coming through the yellow wire. If so the relay is bad, if not check the switch and wiring. Based on your post it appears the it is either the relay or the switch.

Yes, if you connect the clip on the test light to the neg batt term or a good ground, touch the tip of the test light to the wire and hit the switch, it should light up.
